Wedding Horseshoes

One of the oldest beliefs that the Wedding Horseshoe is a source of good luck to a newly married couple came from the Greeks who believed that the lucky horseshoe resembled a crescent moon, a symbol of fertility. When the horseshoe is given to the couple on their wedding day it is hoped that the horseshoe will work it's magic and their fertility will flourish! It is also believed lucky for the bride to arrive to her wedding ceremony in a horse drawn carriage. She should then be presented with a horseshoe from one of the horses, preferably a hind shoe from a grey mare.
